Classic Sailing Charters started as a small charter operation in the Mediterranean. A single boat, a small crew, and an endless curiosity about what lay around the next headland. Over the years, the voyages grew longer and the destinations more remote, taking us from the Aegean to the Indian Ocean and through the island chains of Southeast Asia.
Along the way, something shifted. The crew began writing about the places they discovered, not just the sailing that got them there. The coastal towns where time seemed to stand still. The beachfront villas that made coming ashore feel like an event rather than an interruption. The local knowledge that only comes from arriving by water and staying long enough to understand a place.
What We Write About
Today, Classic Sailing Charters is a publication dedicated to coastal travel, sailing culture, and the art of finding the right place to stay when you finally step off the boat. Our writing is grounded in real experience. Every destination we cover has been visited by our team, usually by sea. Every recommendation comes from personal experience rather than press releases.
We cover three main areas:
- Coastal Destinations — The world's most beautiful coastlines, explored from the water. Hidden coves, forgotten towns, and the places that most travellers never reach.
- Sailing Life — The culture, skills, and stories that come from a life spent on boats. Practical knowledge mixed with the kind of insight that only comes from years at sea.
- Shore Stays — The best accommodation for sailors and coastal travellers. Villas, cottages, and properties that understand what it means to live near the water.
Who We Are
Our team is led by Tom Harland, who has been sailing and writing about the coast for over fifteen years. The contributors are all experienced sailors and coastal travellers who share a belief that the best way to see the world is from the water, and that the best place to sleep is somewhere with a view of it.
We are based wherever the boat happens to be. Our postal address changes with the seasons, but our email stays the same: [email protected].
